The 411.
Word up and howdy-do. I know it's been forever. I promised to tone it down on the "mommy" stuff, and it turned out that you take the baby out of the picture, and there's not a lot to talk about right now. I mean, I literally eat, and (don't) sleep Syd these days, so when I really tried to come up with something new or exciting, I came up blank. So I guess I'm going back on my word. Don't get overly upset. It's not like you've never done it.
My Squishy Squid is sleeping through the night. Yaaaaay! I mean, it's like between seven or eight hours. Because I'm a lazy person, I still dream of the elusive twelve...but I'll totally take seven over three and a half to four. Now when I finally lay down to sleep, I don't have that weepy feeling that I'll have to get up again in an hour. (Because, even though they are sleeping for three and half to four hours, doesn't mean that you are--there are still things like feedings and putting them back to sleep...which always take an additional hour or two). She's also started to coo. I LOVE this stage.
It's the sweetest thing when they smile at you and try to tell you about their day with absolute seriousness, slobber, and sighs. Also, I have to give big props to Amy, as she made the little onesie that Syd wears in that top picture. I know I'm biased but I think that you'll agree it's adorable. Cole is sick. Again.
I've decided that he's just my sickly kid. Riley will get the two colds a year, like the normal person, but Cole picks up everything. It's so annoying to me. The confusing part is that he's the kid that will eat fruit all day and salads. (Yes, he's also a sugar addict, however, so is Riley, and it doesn't seem to affect her). So I don't know what to do. This also makes me so sad, as he looks too entirely pitiful when he's not feeling well. He also says things that are melancholy. For instance, today he asked me if I could feel his heart, because he's so sick. "Can you feel it being breaked?" I told him I was sorry his heart hurt, and he told me, "Everything hurts". So sad. In addition to that, he's the one with an overly sensitive stomach and aversions to any type of foreign smell...so when he's sick anyway, it makes everything that much worse. I'm just going to have to deal with my Bubbers getting whatever it is that's being passed around, whenever it goes around. Fabulous.
TOTAL TOPIC CHANGE
To those of you concerned, and on a completely unrelated note: Zooey Deschanel is now off the market. I found this out a few weeks ago and was happy to learn that she is marrying someone that is worthy of her--the lead singer from Death Cab for Cutie. So for my readers that already knew this, sorry about the unnecessary repetition. For those of you that wish she was yours--and I know that there are a lot of you, seriously--she's now unavailable. Why does this make me happy? Maybe because I know so many lust after her...and she's so cute that I really can't hold a grudge. (I'll be honest, I kind of have a girl crush on her). So, since I find it hard to hate her, I'll enjoy the fact that she's now going to be married and hopefully pop out a few children. Thus, making her less fantasy worthy.
Is this a healthy way of thinking or a useful way to spend my time? No. I can't justify it, but I am aware of this...just so you know.
Now that I've let you in on that little fact, you may see why I'm trying to tear down all my considered models of perfection. I went to the doctor's office yesterday. Admittedly it was for my six week checkup, but it's been almost eight. This is mainly because I wanted to go get weighed and not hate myself. Did I succeed? Bah, no. I stepped on that freaking scale and wanted to yell at my kind nurse. I take comfort in knowing that I really, REALLY had to pee and that I was wearing my "puffy coat" as Cole calls it, and holding my purse.
However, I still have thirty pounds to go, and I was hoping it was more like, less than twenty. BALLS! So I posted the above picture anyway, even though I normally wouldn't have, as it showcases my double chin. Kass is already at her pre-pregnancy weight, and I thought that maybe I could, by a certain type of osmosis...be there as well if I thought about her doing it. Uh, it just didn't work like I'd hoped. So I guess it's back to watching what I eat and exercise. Damn.
Anyhoo, that's all for now. I think I've caught you up on all that's happening around here. Here, being at our house...cause that's the only place I've been for the last couple months...here and Wal-mart, I guess. But you know what that looks like. So, until next time, my faithful readers. And know that you're important to me. I could have been doing leg lifts, or crunches, and instead I chose to let you in on my personal life through this new post. That's love, my friends, real love.

she is getting so big!! it breaks my heart how big they get so fast. Story has started to giggle a tiny bit, its so stinkin' cute!
That's so sad that Cole said his heart is being breaked. Sick kids aren't fun as i am learning.
Syd still looks like Jeff a lot, i can't wait until these two little chubbies can play together. :0)
PS, don't worry about your weight, you really look fantastic!!
pps, i really like that girl too!
You totally do look great. I was thinking that at Book Club. I was like, Wow Rainey's hot. But I had to keep it inside or I might do something inappropriate! Sydney is so fat! That's great. Um, sidenote, Zooey looked exactly like rory in that picture, who is in fact MY girl crush. And I have no qualms with baby blogs, just fyi.
You're one of those people who is always hot and stylish.
I'm enjoying the baby posts. Since I'm done having babies I can live vicariously through your blogs and still get my 12 hours of sleep. :) JK
Maggie and Andy seem to get what ever goes around too. It's frustrating. Maggie has missed so much school. I know when she gets those circles under her eyes something is coming and I brace myself. I hate sickness. But with sensetive bodies comes sensetive hearts and they really do smoothe over all the rough edges of the world.
I love the family posts! No disappointment here. As for poor Cole, he's a boy. That is how boys are. AND MEN. They are wussy sicklings w/ no pain tolerance. It is just their way of life. Sydney is soooo cute! Can't wait to mee the little gal.
I just had another student cancel on me for illness which makes the 5 students and 2 therapy clients THIS week! So sadness for everyone. But I'm so glad I don't work at a school or I'd be home ill too. Btw, strangely Sidney looks just like Kassie did as a baby...was there a swap?
For all of you who go crazy when it says a comment was deleted, it was me and only because my comment published twice somehow.
Syd is getting bigger and cuter everyday. Lukas has been sick too. He has had a cough for almost two weeks. I took him in yesterday to just make sure it hadn't gone to his chest and it hadn't. However, he threw up twice today! Not really bad but still. Plus Dan had to go to the Drs. on Monday and he couldn't get in till after two and he called at nine and lukas couldn't get in till three yesterday and I called at nine. So something really truly is going around. Poor sick kiddos! Hopefully Syd doesn't get it because sick babies are worse then sick kiddos.
I agree with Kelli - you looked hot at book club and I guess I should have come right out and said it! Oh and I'm not really sure who the Zooey person is - maybe i'm just not cool enough!
Hey, I like baby-oriented posts, too. I always feel lame when I post them, but other peoples are delightful. It's like getting all of the fuzzy feelings without any of the work.
Our family has been almost continuously sick since November. One thing right after another, before I even get the humidifier put away or dirty tissues cleaned out of the car . . .
NOOOOOOO!!! ZOOOEEEY....
If you could feel it right now, you'd know my heart just breaked.
I have been meaning to comment on your blog since I read it, but have been crazy busy. I feel for Cole, as I was the sickly kid/adult my whole life! :( I also think you are looking great, I only saw you at shower but I thought to myself how great you were looking. I know you were thinking otherwise because of all the rain and such, but you still looked GREAT!
